Karachi, June 18: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab visited the shrine of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi (RA) on Wednesday and, on the occasion of the annual Urs, laid a ceremonial chadar and offered fateha on behalf of the citizens of Karachi.
On this occasion, the Mayor said that it is a matter of great pride for Karachi that the sacred shrine of such a revered saint as Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi (RA) is located here. He stated that during the Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi (RA), large numbers of devotees from Karachi and other cities come to pay their respects. He added that the Karachi administration has made excellent arrangements at the shrine for the three-day Urs.
Mayor Murtaza Wahab further said that devotees from around the world, including Pakistan, Sindh, and Karachi, visit the shrine to express their reverence for Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi (RA). He emphasized the remarkable role of the saints of Islam in spreading the message of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), serving the cause of Islam, and teaching the message of the Holy Qur’an. He said we must continue to honor their services for the rest of our lives.
He said Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi (RA) is such a great spiritual figure that it is widely believed that the city of Karachi has been protected from natural disasters due to his blessed presence and burial here.
Mayor Karachi said he wishes to pay tribute to all saints of Islam, especially Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi (RA), whose services helped spread Islam across the world and particularly in the province of Sindh and the city of Karachi.
He also announced that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has declared a local holiday in Karachi on Thursday, June 19, in connection with the annual Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi (RA). All KMC offices within its jurisdiction, except for essential services, will remain closed on this day.
