Karachi: In an inspiring gathering for art enthusiasts, the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi’s Fine Art Committee organized an enchanting evening featuring renowned painter Masood A. Khan at the Ahmed Parvez Art Gallery. Titled "Brush Hour," the event showcased a mesmerizing live painting session, where Khan enthralled the audience with his artistic flair.
The event drew prominent figures from the art community, including the President of the Arts Council, Mohammad Ahmed Shah, esteemed TV director Sohail Hashmi, Academy Director Arman Raheem, Head of International Collaboration Jahanzeb Ali Shah, and noted artist Shahid Rassam, among others. The evening was creatively hosted by Farrukh Tanveer Shahab, Chairman of the Fine Art Committee, and Umaimah Khan.
In his opening remarks, President Mohammad Ahmed Shah expressed the Council's vision of fostering a global network of artists. "We aim to unite artists from around the globe," he stated, revealing that 102 countries have confirmed participation in the upcoming World Culture Festival, with painters from 30 nations expected to contribute. He highlighted the festival's significance, noting it will feature a unique fine art showcase alongside music, dance, and theater—marking a historic moment in the country—and acknowledged ongoing initiatives to honor senior artists through the Fine Art Committee.
Shah praised Masood A. Khan for his impactful contributions to the art world, emphasizing the Council's unwavering support for artists. "We don’t love money — we love art. Exhibitions boost artists’ morale. I encourage artists to bring their collectors and make this space a true hub for creativity," he asserted.
Chairman Farrukh Tanveer Shahab echoed these sentiments, lauding Khan's global recognition and his unique ability to perceive deeper meanings in his work.
Masood A. Khan, reflecting on the honor bestowed upon him, expressed gratitude for the recognition and praised the Arts Council for its initiative to honor artists. “The Arts Council has initiated a meaningful practice of honoring artists. President Ahmed Shah genuinely supports creative individuals,” he remarked. Khan emphasized the importance of learning from nature, stating, “While we learn from books, the wonders of nature teach us things no school ever could.”
He further articulated the role of artists in society: “Every artist has an inherent sense of beauty and mastery — recognizing it helps transform emotion into artwork. Artists guide society toward beauty and peace. Even in times of war, poets, painters, and musicians emerge to inspire hope. Sincerity toward one’s craft is essential,” he concluded.
The evening also saw TV director Sohail Hashmi praising Khan’s live painting demonstration and his innovative creative process, while other attendees from the fine arts community shared their insights during the session.
The event not only celebrated Masood A. Khan's artistry but also reinforced the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi's commitment to fostering a vibrant arts culture in the region.
