Karachi: On Wednesday, February 26, the Consul General of Japan in Karachi, HATTORI Masaru, hosted the “Emperor’s Birthday Reception” to celebrate the 65th birthday of His Majesty, Emperor Naruhito. The event was attended by distinguished guests, including the Chief Guest, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, as well as Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Provincial Minister of Sindh for Energy, Planning & Development. Other notable attendees included Mr. Fahd Haroon, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, and Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Mayor of Karachi, along with various prominent politicians, diplomats, and figures from different sectors
In his welcome remarks, Consul General HATTORI expressed his pleasure at hosting his second National Day reception in Karachi. He reflected on the long-standing and cordial relations between Japan and Pakistan, highlighting recent efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation.
Mr. HATTORI emphasized Japan’s significant contributions to Pakistan’s socio-economic development, particularly in the areas of disaster prevention, healthcare, and education. He cited recent educational projects in rural Sindh as examples of Japan’s dedication to supporting vulnerable communities in the region.
The evening concluded with a ceremonial cake-cutting, followed by a dinner that featured a blend of Japanese and Pakistani cuisines, symbolizing the cultural harmony and friendship between the two nations.
He reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan and collaborating with local, provincial, and federal governments to promote mutual development and prosperity.
