Karachi: Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, held a constructive and forward-looking meeting with the Leader of the Opposition in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Advocate Saif Uddin, to discuss the upcoming budget for the fiscal year 2025–2026.
During the meeting, Mayor Wahab briefed the opposition leader on the projected revenues and collections outlined in the forthcoming budget. The discussion focused on enhancing transparency and inclusivity in budget planning while ensuring that development priorities reflect the needs of the city’s diverse population.
Highlighting the importance of cross-party cooperation, the Mayor welcomed suggestions from the opposition and emphasized the shared responsibility of all elected representatives in shaping Karachi’s future. The dialogue covered key developmental portfolios, infrastructure projects, and long-term service delivery initiatives.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to working collectively in the greater interest of Karachi and its citizens. In a show of unity, they agreed to promote a collaborative governance model that rises above political differences.
Additionally, Mayor Wahab agreed on the need to further empower local bodies at the union council level, particularly in relation to Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation and the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board, to ensure more efficient and localized service delivery.
The meeting was also attended by KMC Municipal Commissioner S.M. Afzal Zaidi (PAS), PPP Parliamentary Leader Karamullah Waqasi, and other senior officials.
