Karachi: In a recent meeting at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) head office, Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab outlined the city administration's commitment to ensuring optimal arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram. The meeting, which included various stakeholders such as religious scholars, municipal officials, and law enforcement representatives, aimed to foster collaboration and address potential challenges associated with the observance.
Mayor Wahab emphasized the significance of unity among Muslims and the importance of fostering an environment of respect and harmony during this sacred month. “We are working closely with scholars and representatives from all schools of thought to resolve issues collectively and promote brotherhood across the city,” he stated.
During the meeting, attended by Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad and other key officials, concerns regarding the management of the 525 Imambargahs in Karachi were discussed. Religious leaders raised critical points, including a request for K-Electric to ensure uninterrupted power supply from the 1st to the 10th of Muharram, particularly around Majalis venues and procession routes.
The collaborative efforts between the city administration and religious groups aim to create a respectful and peaceful atmosphere, honoring the significance of this sacred occasion while addressing the community's pressing concerns.
