Karachi: A crucial meeting headed by IG Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, was convened to discuss security arrangements for Muharram. The session took place at the Central Police Office in Karachi and included participation from Shia scholars and prominent figures from Larkana and Sukkur divisions via video link, while other DPOs, Headquarters, Training, and AIGs attended in person.
During the meeting, participants expressed gratitude towards the Pakistan Army for its efforts in Operation Bunyat al-Marsoos, which has successfully subdued Indian arrogance, and offered prayers for the country's security. Attendees conveyed satisfaction with the police security measures implemented across relevant districts and divisions. They assured the police and other law enforcement agencies of their full cooperation during security arrangements.
Volunteers will be seen working alongside local police during Muharram gatherings, processions, and related events. Delegates reaffirmed the exemplary collaboration between the Shia community and police in past Muharram observances.
IG Sindh urged everyone to remain vigilant against any potential disturbances, emphasizing that the law should take its course. He reminded attendees of the successes against terrorism in the past and expressed confidence that similar victories could be achieved in the future.
He assured that the Sindh Police, along with other law enforcement and security agencies, is committed to maintaining safety and security. Given the global atmosphere, he stressed the necessity for heightened caution and urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the police. IG Sindh also called for vigilance against elements that seek to spread discord and undermine law and order. He encouraged scholars, speakers, and respected individuals from all sects to play their part in ensuring that the upcoming Muharram of 2025 is observed peacefully and securely.
