KMC Finalizes Flyover on Azeempura to Connect Shahrah-e-Bhutto and Shahrah-e-Faisal Signal-Free

By: Aziz Khatri

Karachi: In a major development aimed at easing traffic congestion and enhancing urban infrastructure, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has finalized the construction of a new flyover on Azeempura Road. The project will provide a direct, signal-free connection between Shahrah-e-Bhutto and Shahrah-e-Faisal — two of the city’s busiest arteries — offering a smoother and faster route, especially towards the Jinnah International Airport.

The flyover will span approximately 500 meters in length, designed to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow and improved accessibility for thousands of daily commuters.

Under the chairmanship of Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, a high-level meeting was held to finalize the PC-1 of the project. The meeting was attended by Municipal Commissioner KMC Syed Afzal Zaidi, Chief Engineer KMC Zulfiqar Abro, Financial Advisor Gulzar Ali, and other senior officials.

With the recent approval of block allocation worth Rs. 1.4 billion for the project, this flyover is poised to become a vital alternative route for Karachiites, especially in the aftermath of ongoing developments along Shahrah-e-Bhutto. The project not only aims to reduce travel time but also supports the city’s broader vision of building sustainable and resilient urban infrastructure.

Following the formal approval from the Planning and Development Board, work on the flyover will begin immediately, with a completion timeline of one year.

Mayor Murtaza Wahab emphasized that this initiative reflects the city’s commitment to smart traffic planning and modern urban mobility, ensuring long-term relief for commuters and improved connectivity across districts.
