Majlis-e-Marsiya and Niyaz-e-Imam Hussain (RA) Held at Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi

Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi hosted a solemn Majlis-e-Marsiya and Niyaz-e-Imam Hussain (RA) at the Jaun Elia Lawn, dedicated exclusively to its members and their families.

The event featured powerful recitations of elegiac poetry (marsiya) by distinguished poets, including Kashif Ghair, Tauqeer Taqi, Dr. Nadeem Naqvi, Riaz Meerthi, Dr. Iqbal Peerzada, Dr. Mazhar Abbas Rizvi, Naseem Nazish Rizvi, Javed Saba, Rehana Roohi, Aqeel Abbas Jafri, and Farasat Rizvi. The majlis was eloquently moderated by Shakeel Jafri.


The Niyaz-e-Imam Hussain (RA) gathering was attended by several prominent personalities from politics, media, and the arts. Notable guests included political leader Waqar Mehdi, Arts Council Vice President Munawar Saeed, Amjad Hussain Shah, Chand Gul Shah, Ikhlaq Ahmed, Farrukh Tanveer Shahab, Iqbal Latif, Syed Shehzad Raza, President of the Karachi Press Club Fazil Jamili, senior journalist Mazhar Abbas, A.H. Khanzada, Imtiaz Khan Faran, Governing Body Member Muhammad Farooq, President of PEEP Muhammad Jameel, renowned musician Azhar Hussain, iconic singer Hasan Jahangir, veteran stage actor Zakir Mastana, and Ali Hasan, Ayaz Khan, among many other respected figures from the artistic community.


Muhammad Ahmed Shah, President of the Arts Council, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the members and their families for their active participation and dedication to the cause of remembrance.

Speaking to the media, Pakistan People's Party leader Waqar Mehdi commended the role of the Arts Council and its leadership. He stated, “The Arts Council is gaining recognition not only across Pakistan but also internationally. This success is the result of Ahmed Shah’s unwavering dedication. The Council serves as a beautiful example of unity, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds, languages, and faiths. One of Ahmed Shah’s most admirable qualities is that he welcomes everyone with equal respect, whether they arrive in a luxury vehicle or worn-out sandals.”
