Karachi: In a significant move for the working class, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced the issuance of time scale promotions for employees of the Emergency Response Center within the Fire Brigade Department, marking a historic resolution after a wait of 24 years.
During a ceremony held at the Council Hall of the KMC Head Office, Mayor Wahab emphasized the Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) unwavering commitment to advocating for workers' rights. “Today is a living example of that commitment,” he stated, highlighting the importance of recognizing the contributions of the Fire Brigade personnel who have risked their lives without promotions for decades.
“This decision acknowledges the sacrifices made by those brave members of the Fire Brigade. I salute the heroes of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s Fire Brigade Emergency Response Department,” he added.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad, Parliamentary Leader in the City Council Karamullah Waqasi, Deputy Parliamentary Leader Dil Muhammad, along with other council members, reaffirming collective support for the workforce and the implementation of pro-worker policies by the PPP.
