KARACHI: Police have recorded testimonies from a family who rode in the car of the slain online cab driver, Shahzeb, during his journey from Hyderabad to Karachi. The Karachi police have made significant progress in their investigation into Shahzeb's murder. They obtained statements from a family consisting of two women and three children who traveled from Hyderabad to the Korangi Crossing area of Karachi in Shahzeb’s vehicle.
Investigators noted that the family routinely makes this journey, and, due to the unavailability of their usual driver, they decided to hire an online cab. They reported that they did not notice anything unusual or hear any confrontations involving Shahzeb over the phone. After dropping the family off at Korangi Crossing, Shahzeb booked another ride, according to investigators. They also mentioned that some evidence related to his second ride has been found, but Shahzeb's mobile phone and other valuables have not been recovered from the crime scene.
Geo-fencing Records
The investigation has expanded, with police beginning to gather geo-fencing records related to the area surrounding the crime scene. Officers confirmed they are collecting geo-fencing data as well as records from the vehicle's tracker. They have contacted the car tracking company to obtain more information about Shahzeb's movements, noting that he stopped at a hotel during his trip to Karachi. Investigators spoke with the hotel staff about any individuals who may have been in Shahzeb's vehicle. Additionally, they recovered a hotel keychain from the crime scene.
However, they have not yet succeeded in locating the family that was dropped off by Shahzeb in Korangi. Shahzeb, a young online taxi driver, was shot dead allegedly by unknown assailants in the Safoora Town area of Karachi. His body was discovered by police at Safoora Chowk, bearing multiple gunshot wounds. Initial inquiries indicated that Shahzeb was traveling from Hyderabad to Karachi, and his bullet-ridden body was found in bushes near Safoora Chowk. The police reported that Shahzeb's father had turned off the car’s tracker upon realizing that his mobile phone was also switched off.
