Karachi: Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad presided over a certificate distribution ceremony at a training session organized by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s Department of City Institute of Image Management (CIIM) for City Council members. The event aimed to equip local representatives with the tools needed to serve their constituents more effectively.
The ceremony celebrated the achievements of elected local representatives who successfully completed the training. Among the recipients were significant figures, including Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Deputy Parliamentary Leader Dil Muhammad, Juman Darwan, Sher Ahmed from the Pakistan Muslim League (N), Gulfam Haider Hashmi from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, and Khawaja Ghulam Qamar representing Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, alongside 45 Union Council Chairmen from various political parties.
In his address, Deputy Mayor Murad commended the efforts of the City Institute of Image Management, describing it as the sole entity dedicated to providing essential training to elected representatives at the district level. He announced the launch of a new training program set to commence soon, aimed at further enhancing the capabilities of 322 elected local government representatives.
Murad emphasized the Pakistan People’s Party's commitment to serving Karachi without favoritism, asserting that all political factions must collaborate for the city’s progress. “Together, we will work towards improving our city," he stated, highlighting the need for unity among diverse political parties in addressing public needs.
The training session covered crucial topics, including the council's code of conduct and parliamentary procedures, delivered by experts who emphasized the importance of maintaining decorum. Participants gained insights on how to effectively navigate council meetings and better fulfill their roles.
The initiative is seen as a significant step towards enhancing the performance of local government representatives, aiming to transform Karachi’s political landscape. Director of CIIM, Muhammad Shahid, was also present at the ceremony, underscoring the program's potential to strengthen public service delivery in the city.
