Karachi: The 2nd National Ranking Padel Cup officially commenced at the KMC Sports Complex in collaboration with Maidan and Play Pro, attracting over 120 players from across Pakistan.
This prestigious tournament, sanctioned by Padel Asia and the International Padel Federation, serves as a qualifying event for the upcoming Asian Padel Championship set to take place in Qatar from October 14-24. Participants are competing in three main categories: Men's, Women's, and Mixed Doubles.
The Men's competition features the highest number of entries, with 32 teams vying for the coveted title. Additionally, 16 teams have entered the Women's and Mixed events, adding to the excitement of the tournament.
On the inaugural day, the Men's matches saw impressive performances, with the Katchi Brothers, Team Maidan, Team Allawala, and Padel Masters all emerging victorious in their respective games.
Addressing the media, the CEO of the Pakistan Padel Federation, Mr. Mudassir Arain, announced plans to hire a foreign coach for the training camp ahead of the Asian Championship. “This will ensure our players are well-prepared for their first international event,” he stated.
As the tournament progresses, Women's and Mixed Doubles matches are scheduled for today, promising more thrilling action for padel fans.
