Karachi, Aug 14: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said that freedom is a great blessing, the true value of which can be understood by nations that are deprived of it, especially the oppressed people of Palestine. He said Pakistan’s independence is the result of the unmatched sacrifices of our forefathers. “I extend heartfelt congratulations to the entire nation on Independence Day. Freedom should not be celebrated only on August 14, but throughout the year,” he stated.
Mayor Wahab emphasized that if anyone dares look at our beloved homeland with evil intentions, the entire nation will stand like a solid wall to defend it. “The arrogance of the Modi regime was crushed by the Pakistani armed forces and the people. The united response of the Pakistani nation gave a befitting reply to Modi, and I congratulate the nation on that. We pay tribute to the martyrs of the battle for truth. Our brave armed forces and citizens displayed great unity,” he said.
“We not only responded to Modi but also gave a strong message to Israel, proving that this nation stands united,” he added. He expressed these views while addressing the flag hoisting ceremony held at the headquarters of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on the occasion of Independence Day.
On this occasion, Municipal Commissioner KMC Afzal Zaidi, members of the City Council, elected representatives, departmental heads, and a large number of staff were also present.
While addressing the ceremony, Mayor Murtaza Wahab said that KMC is the largest institution delivering civic services, and improving its performance is a top priority. He urged KMC officers and employees to make public service their mission and fulfill their duties with dedication to provide real relief to the citizens.
He stated that serious measures are being taken to solve Karachi’s long-standing issues and an integrated strategy is being implemented for the betterment of the city. “On this Independence Day, I extend heartfelt congratulations to all Pakistanis living across the globe. Freedom is a priceless blessing — the fruit of a long struggle and great sacrifices.”
“This day is a reminder to renew our pledge for unity, sacrifice, and national service. The people of Karachi are celebrating Independence Day and the victory of the just cause with passion and enthusiasm. From Karachi to Peshawar, there is an air of celebration and joy.”
“Freedom reminds us that sacrifice for the sake of truth and justice is part of our national identity. For a prosperous and developed Pakistan, we must rise above color, race, and language, and embrace unity,” he concluded.
On this occasion, he prayed, “May Allah Almighty bless our country with progress, prosperity, and stability, so that Pakistan may always move forward with dignity, respect, and peace.”
