Healthcare Initiative Reaches Underserved Communities in Karachi

By: Aziz Khatri

Karachi: In a commendable effort to uplift the underprivileged segments of society, Iqbal Advani, Chairman of the Advani Foundation and CEO of Saving Home Pakistan, emphasized that “serving humanity is our mission.” This statement rings true as the organization prepares to establish a series of medical camps to provide essential healthcare to the impoverished communities in Karachi and other areas of Sindh.

During a recent free medical camp organized in collaboration with Hashmani Hospital near Hari Masjid in Lyari, Advani highlighted the challenges faced by the poor in accessing quality medical care, particularly in light of the rising inflation that has made such necessities increasingly unattainable.

The camp attracted hundreds of residents, with specialist doctors and healthcare staff from Hashmani Hospital offering free check-ups and medications. Many attendees were treated for common but critical health issues, including high blood pressure, diabetes, and various eye, ear, and dental ailments. The event was met with overwhelming demand, with long queues forming as early as 10 AM and persisting until evening. Yusuf Gadit, Special Assistant to Saving Home, noted the stark realities faced by the people of Lyari. “The residents here are deprived of the basic necessities of life. This medical camp is an important step in providing the essential health services they urgently need,” he stated. He highlighted broader systemic issues, mentioning that Lyari, despite being located in a major city like Karachi, suffers from significant neglect, including prolonged electricity outages and a lack of clean drinking water.
The initiative underscores the pressing need for ongoing support and intervention in underdeveloped areas, reaffirming the commitment of the Advani Foundation and its partners to bring about positive change in the lives of those less fortunate. As the medical camp concluded, the importance of such outreach programs was evident, showcasing a vital lifeline for many in the community struggling against poverty and health disparities.
