Karachi: The Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, emphasized that the celebration of Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ is not only a responsibility but also a blessing and an honor. He announced that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) will implement comprehensive arrangements throughout the city, including the decoration of major roads and significant buildings. The final plan for these arrangements will be crafted in consultation with religious scholars.
The Mayor also stated that City Wardens will be deployed to ensure security and facilitate public gatherings, allowing citizens to partake in religious events peacefully and safely. These remarks were made following his visit to Darul Uloom Mujaddidiyah Naeemiyah in Malir, where he met with the head of the seminary, Mufti Jan Muhammad Naeemi, and addressed scholars and students. The Deputy Mayor of Karachi, Salman Abdullah Murad, and other leaders were present during this occasion.
Barrister Murtaza Wahab expressed his awareness of the city's challenges, stating that efforts are ongoing to address them. He noted that repair and restoration work has already begun on roads damaged during recent rains, and steps will be taken to improve their condition promptly. He highlighted that, compared to previous years, there was minimal waterlogging on city roads during this year’s rainfall—an outcome of the joint strategy adopted by KMC and other institutions—resulting in smooth traffic flow on all major roads in Karachi.
Mufti Jan Muhammad Naeemi, head of the seminary, urged the Mayor to ensure the repair and resurfacing of local roads, as well as to resolve sewage line leakages. He also requested that the Mayor engage with K-Electric to prevent load shedding during Rabi-ul-Awwal. In response, Mayor Wahab assured him that he would communicate with the relevant officials to guarantee an uninterrupted power supply during the Rabi-ul-Awwal gatherings and processions.
Later, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab attended a Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ gathering and recited a Naat in praise of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.
