Karachi: In a significant gathering at the Central Police Office, more than 59 newly recruited Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) met with Inspector General (IG) Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon. This orientation marks an essential step for these officers as they embark on their roles within the provincial police force.

During the meeting, IG Memon extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly appointed DSPs, emphasizing the critical responsibilities that lie ahead. Out of the total recruits, 29 DSPs have been assigned to active postings, while the remaining 30 await the completion of their departmental training.
IG Sindh articulated the need for a shift towards public-friendly policing, urging the officers to adopt a positive attitude and uphold integrity in their duties. He underscored the importance of merit-based postings and the urgent need for proactive measures to combat crime effectively.

In a noteworthy change, Memon announced new prerequisites for the appointment of Station House Officers (SHOs), stating that passing an examination will now be mandatory. Additionally, newly appointed officers will undergo a six-month evaluation period to assess their performance and competence in the field. In a move aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, the operations budget has been decentralized to the SHO level, giving individual police stations more control over their resources.

He also advised the DSPs on best practices, including the prompt response to crime scenes, the meticulous collection and preservation of evidence, and the enhancement of efficiency within police offices. As a motivator, he assured the officers that exceptional performance would be recognized and rewarded.

In response to the IG’s guidance, the DSPs expressed their gratitude and committed to full cooperation with the administration, ready to embrace the challenges ahead as dedicated public servants.
