Karachi: The Legal Department of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) organized a one-day training workshop titled “Awareness” aimed at enhancing legal knowledge among department heads and nominated focal persons. The workshop focused on legal affairs, challenges in court proceedings, and improving interdepartmental coordination.

Held at KMC’s historic Council Hall, the event featured notable guests including Justice Nadeem Azhar Siddiqui (High Court), District and Sessions Judge Justice Obaid Hamza, and Chief Qasid Muhammad Yousuf. Representatives from various KMC departments and legal experts also participated.
Discussions covered pending court cases, legal complexities, documentation flaws, and obstacles delaying case resolutions. Speakers stressed the crucial role of municipal bodies in the judicial system and underscored the importance of professional conduct and legal awareness.
The speakers warned that all court orders must be acted upon immediately to avoid legal repercussions and damage to institutional reputation. Departments were urged to prioritize prompt and complete compliance with court directives.
Participants reviewed case studies, legal precedents, and departmental record-keeping best practices. During a Q&A session, attendees shared challenges and gained expert guidance.
In closing, officials highlighted the rule of law, transparency, and interdepartmental cooperation, with the Legal Department committing to more such workshops to strengthen KMC’s legal framework.
