Women Empowered in Traffic Safety: Seminar Held in Karachi

Karachi — A pivotal seminar took place at the Saleem Wahedi Auditorium, Driving License Office Clifton, under the joint auspices of the Karachi Traffic Police and Women on Wheels Pakistan. The event aimed to enhance women’s awareness of traffic laws, e-ticketing, and the newly introduced faceless ticketing system.


The seminar featured key dignitaries, including Sindh’s Provincial Minister for Women Development, Shaheena Sher Ali, DIG Traffic Karachi, and Mehrin Mushtaq Qazi, founder of Women on Wheels. Also in attendance were SPAARC in-charge Ali Suhag and a significant number of participants, all committed to advocating for women's roles in traffic safety.

Throughout the event, attendees received comprehensive briefings on updated traffic rules, recently enacted legislation, and best practices for safe driving. The focus extended to fostering confidence among women drivers, honing their driving skills, and promoting responsible behavior on the roads.

Participants were introduced to modern and simplified processes for obtaining driving licenses, an effort aimed at making the roads safer and more accessible for all. Dignitaries underscored the crucial role that law-abiding citizens, particularly women drivers, play in enhancing the overall efficacy of the traffic system. The seminar concluded with the distribution of essential highway code books and helmets to attendees. Additionally, dignitaries were honored with mementos and traditional Ajrak shawls, symbolizing the importance of these awareness programs in empowering women and promoting safer road conditions.
Such initiatives signify a progressive step towards building a more inclusive society where women take an active role in ensuring road safety for everyone.
