Karachi: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) held an engaging book launch for “CHINA LEADS: The World Listens,” authored by Dr. Junaid Ahmad, at the Federation House in Karachi. The event attracted numerous business leaders, intellectuals, book enthusiasts, and followers of China, marking a significant gathering for the community.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Yang Yundong, the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, who highlighted the importance of international collaboration during his remarks. The event was chaired by Mr. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Senior Vice President of FPCCI, with Mr. Shabbir Hassan Mansha, Chairman of the Pak-China Business Council, serving as co-chair.
Three distinguished scholars contributed insights during the book review segment: Senator Javed Jabbar, a renowned writer and former federal minister; Mr. Wajid Jawad, President of Anjuman Taraqqi-e-Urdu Pakistan; and Prof. Dr. Guo Xuetang from Shanghai University, who participated via video link.
Attendees learned that the first edition of the book, released in mid-2024, was met with widespread acclaim. In response to popular demand, a second edition has been launched, featuring updated information and new initiatives from President Xi Jinping aimed at global development. Notable among these initiatives is the Belt and Road Initiative, inaugurated in 2013, which has seen participation from over 155 countries and more than US$1.35 trillion invested in infrastructure and productive projects.
Additionally, the Global Development Initiative, announced in 2021, focuses on enhancing social sectors like health and education, while the Global Security Initiative, introduced in April 2022, emphasizes the importance of sovereignty and territorial integrity for all nations. The Global Civilizational Initiative, revealed in March 2023, aims to foster cultural harmony among diverse nations.
As China’s economic and military power continues to grow significantly, surpassing that of many traditional Western nations, the relationship between Pakistan and China remains crucial. The recent geopolitical upheavals, including the Pakistan-India conflict and the Iran-Israel war, have further solidified global respect and understanding for China, which is fostering the groundwork for a new world order characterized by equity and mutual respect.
