Faryal Talpur Graces Farewell Lunch for Cemal Sangu at Arts Council Karachi

Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, organized a gracious farewell lunch for Türkiye’s Consul General, Cemal Sangu. The event featured Faryal Talpur, Chairperson of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Women’s Wing and Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA), as the guest of honor. Muhammad Ahmad Shah, President of the Arts Council Karachi, along with other members of the governing body, warmly welcomed the attendees

During the event, President Muhammad Ahmad Shah emphasized the importance of strengthening cultural ties and cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye, highlighting the historic bond shared by the two nations.

Faryal Talpur noted that Pakistan has a deep-rooted relationship with Türkiye. She shared that her great-grandfather, Hassan Ali Effendi, was the first Consul General of Türkiye in Sindh and founded the Sindh Madressatul Islam in 1885, which is now situated in Karachi. Talpur expressed her best wishes to Cemal Sangu.

In his remarks, Consul General Cemal Sangu praised Hassan Ali Effendi's role in promoting relations between Sindh and Türkiye. He expressed gratitude to Faryal Talpur and former President Asif Ali Zardari for their efforts in maintaining the historic relationship between Pakistan and Türkiye, appreciating their significant contributions. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Faryal Talpur presented Cemal Sangu with a copy of Mirza Qaleech Baig’s book “Khan Bahadur Hassanally Effendi” along with a bouquet.
The gathering was attended by several dignitaries, including Sindh Minister for Culture Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, PPP Karachi Division President and Sindh Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani, Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, Mayor of Karachi Murtaza Wahab, senior leader Nisar Khuhro, veteran actor Manzoor Saeed, writer Noor-ul-Huda Shah, columnist Ghazi Salahuddin, journalist Mazhar Abbas, Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho, Qasim Soomro, as well as Consul Generals from various countries and other distinguished personalities.
