IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon Meets NADRA Officials to Strengthen Digital Reforms and Establish a Criminals’ Database

Karachi: A six-member senior delegation from NADRA, led by Chairman Regulations Dr. Muhammad Raheem Awan, met with Inspector General of Sindh Police Ghulam Nabi Memon at the Central Police Office in Karachi. Other key NADRA officials in attendance included Chief Legal Officer Muneeb Cheema and the Director General for Karachi and Sukkur, Muhammad Aamir.

The meeting was also attended by the DG of the Safe City Authority Karachi, various DIGs, and officers from different police divisions, including Headquarters, Establishment, IT, CTD, Special Branch, and others. The discussions focused on digital reforms, available facilities, and the creation of a joint criminals’ database between Sindh Police and NADRA.

The DIG of IT briefed the participants on various digital applications developed by the Sindh Police and the effective use of NADRA’s database. The professional management and secure data collection practices of NADRA were highly praised. Sindh Police requested NADRA’s assistance in identifying unknown faces, fingerprints, and other digital footprints.

Chairman's Regulations of NADRA emphasized the importance of establishing a shared database for information on inmates and wanted fugitives. He also suggested connecting police driving license services to NADRA’s systems.

IG Sindh commended NADRA as a distinguished Pakistani institution recognized globally and highlighted the necessity for NADRA to provide real-time responses in serious criminal cases.

Additionally, IG Sindh proposed joint training programs and institutional visits between the IT teams of NADRA and Sindh Police to enhance cooperation. He stressed that a unified criminals’ database is vital for national security and requested NADRA to submit proposals and an implementation plan to the Sindh government.
