Karachi: A review meeting regarding the Sindh Safe City Project, e-Challan System, and Police Emergency Response was held at the Central Police Office Karachi under the chairmanship of IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon.
The meeting was attended by DG Sindh Safe City Authority, NRTC officials, DIGs, Headquarters, Sindh Police Highway Patrol, IT, Karachi Traffic, South Range, SSPA VC, and other police officers.
The briefing covered the overall responsibilities and updates:
1. 1300 cameras were installed in the first phase, out of which 891 have been installed, and the first phase is nearing completion.
2. Real-time transmission of alerts from Safe City cameras in the field to Emergency Response Vehicles (EVRs) has started.
3. The second phase of the Safe City Project will start later this year.
4. Trials of e-challan are underway at some locations in Karachi, and Safe City cameras are being installed on major roads.
5. In the second phase, e-challan services will be available on all roads in Karachi.
6. EVRs will be deployed at key locations in the city, connecting police units like Shaheen Force, Highway Patrol, and AVC.
7. Messages generated by the system will be sent to all field units in real time, which will increase connectivity.
8. The e-challan system aims to reduce direct contact between the police and the public.
9. The crime monitoring and control functions of the Safe City system will be extended to other cities in Sindh.
The DG Safe City Authority, SPHP, IT, Karachi Traffic, and DIGs of SSPAVC were asked to start the work of connecting all field formations, district police, and installed cameras.
