Indus Valley School Wraps Up 3-Day Film Festival Showcasing New Pakistani Talent

 Karachi, The Department of Communication Design at Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture (IVS) successfully concluded its three-day Film Festival from September 12 to 14, celebrating Pakistan’s emerging filmmakers.

The festival screened 37 short films in various genres, introducing documentaries and animation categories for the first time. Alongside screenings, workshops, and panel discussions covered topics like social media filmmaking, AI in film production, and integrating films into education.


Notable panelists included Ali Gul Pir, Azaan Sami Khan, and Atiya Zaidi. Six hands-on workshops by industry mentors helped participants develop practical filmmaking skills.

Awards were presented for Best Film, Screenplay, Cinematography, Direction, Editing, Sound Design, Production Design, Animation, and Documentary. Additional honors were given in the Youth Film and Idea-to-Screen Bootcamp categories.

Alfiya Halai, Head of IVS Communication Design, called the festival a vital space for young filmmakers to connect with professionals and strengthen storytelling.
