Japanese Film Festival 2025 Kicks Off in Karachi with Animated Hit "Penguin Highway"

  Karachi: The Consulate-General of Japan in Karachi officially launched the Japanese Film Festival 2025 at the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi. This annual cultural event is organized in collaboration with the Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association, the Japan Foundation, and the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi. Aiming to showcase Japan’s diverse cinema and promote cultural exchange.

The opening featured the screening of Penguin Highway, a charming animated film blending science fiction and childhood wonder. The festival will screen eight Japanese films across September and October at multiple venues in Sindh, offering audiences a rich variety of genres and stories.

Consul General Hattori Masaru appreciated the audience’s enthusiasm and highlighted the role of cinema in creating meaningful cultural connections. Chief Guest Rahul Aijaz praised Japanese filmmakers like Akira Kurosawa and expressed hopes for future film co-productions between Pakistan and Japan. He also announced the upcoming release of his movie, Indus Echoes, in Karachi on September 19.
