Karachi: In a significant diplomatic engagement, Germany’s newly appointed Consul General, Thomas E. Schultze, visited the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Monday. There, he met with the Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, who extended a warm welcome and congratulated him on his arrival in the city.
The meeting focused on the existing friendly relations between Pakistan and Germany, emphasizing the need for enhanced cooperation in various sectors, including trade, education, and culture. Mayor Wahab briefed the Consul General on Karachi's administrative structure, current municipal affairs, notable development projects, and the civic facilities available to residents.
Highlighting the importance of the dialogue, Mayor Wahab stated, “The relations between our nations are historic and economically significant. We must work together to promote mutual understanding and collaboration.”
During the discussions, Consul General Schultze extended an invitation for Mayor Wahab to visit Hamburg, aimed at further strengthening the ties between Karachi and the German city. The two officials also explored opportunities for exchanging medical professionals and fostering cultural collaborations.
Appreciating the ongoing development efforts in Karachi, Consul General Schultze expressed Germany’s commitment to widening its cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in Karachi. This meeting is perceived as a proactive step toward promoting people-to-people connections and paving the way for future bilateral projects, reflecting a shared commitment to collaborative growth and cultural exchange.
