Karachi: In a landmark move aimed at bolstering the professionalism of the Sindh Police, the Inspector General has issued an important new directive concerning the appointment of Station House Officers (SHOs) across the province.
Effective immediately, all candidates aspiring to take on the role of SHO must possess a graduation degree, marking a significant elevation in the educational requirements for this critical position. Moreover, the directive stipulates that applicants must have a clean criminal record, further ensuring that only the most qualified individuals are considered for these roles.
Sources indicate that this initiative is part of a broader effort to reform the police force, with the intent of enhancing both the efficiency and accountability of the Sindh Police. By enforcing strict educational and ethical standards, the directive seeks to instill greater public confidence in law enforcement.
As this new policy takes effect, it is anticipated that the enhanced criteria will lead to a more skilled and trustworthy police force, ultimately benefiting the community and improving public safety throughout Sindh. The move has been largely welcomed by advocates of police reform, who view it as a pivotal step towards modernizing the policing system and fostering a culture of integrity within the ranks.
