By: Aziz Khatri

Karachi: Sindh Police has accelerated digitalization and public convenience by launching a new phase of the e-challan system in Karachi. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Karachi Traffic Police and Pakistan Post for the delivery of electronic traffic tickets directly to citizens' homes.

The signing ceremony at the Central Police Office Karachi was attended by IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, Postmaster General Sindh Manzoor Ahmed, DG Safe City Mustafa Kamal, Additional IGs, and other senior officials. Under the agreement, challans will be delivered within 24 hours inside Karachi and Hyderabad, and within three working days for areas beyond Hyderabad.

Pakistan Post will maintain transaction and delivery records for a period of 18 months. Delivery charges are set at 26 PKR per e-ticket for Karachi and Hyderabad local mail, and 41 PKR for outside zones. The Sindh government will bear all delivery costs to ensure that no extra burden is placed on citizens.

IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon said the system will reduce direct contact between police and the public, increasing transparency and reducing corruption. The initiative aims to promote traffic law compliance and enhance citizen convenience.

DIG Traffic Karachi Peer Muhammad Shah detailed amendments to the Motor Vehicle Ordinance and progress towards a fee-less e-ticket system. Integration with the Safe City Project will further improve Karachi’s traffic system.

Postmaster General Manzoor Ahmed said the system is a convenience for citizens and will foster cooperation between departments, improving police performance and transparency.
