By: Aziz Khatri

Karachi: An engaging seminar focused on faceless e-ticketing and traffic laws was recently held, organized by Mr. Abbas Haider, Director of the Pakistan Institute of Labor Education and Research (PILER), and Mr. Qazi Khizr, President of the Human Rights Commission. The event welcomed the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Traffic Karachi as a special guest, who provided attendees with a comprehensive briefing on the newly introduced faceless e-ticketing system.

In his address, the DIG Traffic Karachi emphasized the critical need for modern technology to enhance road safety and minimize accidents. He explained that the faceless e-ticketing initiative aims to promote both effective enforcement and transparency in traffic law adherence. To ensure widespread awareness, the DIG noted that a series of awareness campaigns has been launched in collaboration with universities, schools, colleges, transporters, and notable figures from the showbiz industry. These campaigns are intended to educate citizens on the benefits of the faceless e-ticketing system and its role in improving traffic management.

Highlighting safety measures, the DIG announced that the speed limit for heavy vehicles on city highways is set at 30 km/h, while other vehicles must adhere to a 60 km/h limit. These regulations aim to significantly reduce traffic incidents and safeguard the lives and property of Karachi's citizens. In a bid to improve public convenience, the police have established 11 convenience centers where residents can register complaints regarding their traffic challans for swift resolution. Additionally, the newly launched “Trex” mobile application promises to keep users informed about traffic rule violations and provide details regarding e-challans in real-time. The seminar also featured a question-and-answer session, allowing participants to engage directly with the DIG Traffic Karachi, who attentively addressed their inquiries and concerns. At the conclusion of the event, the hosting organizations honored the DIG Traffic Karachi with traditional Sindhi Ajrak, symbolizing cultural appreciation. Participants expressed their commitment to working closely with the Karachi Traffic Police to support the implementation of traffic laws and ensure the success of the faceless e-ticketing system. As Karachi moves forward with these initiatives, officials remain optimistic about creating a safer and more compliant road environment for all citizens.
