Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah arrived at the Central Police Office (CPO), where he was warmly welcomed by Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, IG Police Ghulam Nabi Memon, and other senior officers. A police contingent presented a guard of honour upon his arrival.
In a significant development, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presided over the inauguration ceremony of the Faceless E-Tracking System, which aims to modernize traffic enforcement and curb violations through AI-powered cameras.
The ceremony was attended by provincial ministers, including Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Saeed Ghani, Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, and Riaz Shah Sherazi. Senior police officers and retired senior officers also attended.
The new system is initially starting with 200 cameras in Karachi (which will expand to 2,000 across Sindh), which issues automatic e-challans without human intervention, promoting transparency and reducing corruption. Repeat violators could face fines of up to Rs 20,000, while a Citizen Police Liaison Committee will ensure monitoring. The move enhances public safety and accountability by amending the Motor Vehicles Ordinance of 1965.
