Karachi: The Government of Japan has announced its decision to provide Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) totaling up to USD 99,967 (approximately PKR 28.3 million) to two local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Sindh.
The grant contracts were signed by HATTORI Masaru, the Consul General of Japan, alongside representatives from the Muhammadi Haematology, Oncology Services & Welfare Foundation and the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto High School during a ceremony at the Consulate-General of Japan in Karachi.
The Muhammadi Foundation will receive a grant of USD 40,953 (around PKR 11.6 million) aimed at procuring new medical equipment for treating patients with blood diseases in Karachi. This support will enable the Foundation to screen approximately 120 blood samples daily, facilitating early diagnosis and quality treatment for blood-related illness.
Meanwhile, the Benazir Bhutto High School will be awarded a grant of USD 59,014 (equivalent to PKR 16.7 million) to fund the construction of new classrooms, acquire science laboratory equipment, and purchase a transport vehicle. This initiative aims to establish a fully equipped science laboratory at the school and enhance the safe transportation of female students, thereby promoting their education in a secure environment.
During the signing ceremony, Consul General HATTORI expressed his optimism that both the Muhammadi Foundation and the Benazir Bhutto High School would amplify their efforts to serve their communities.
The Government of Japan reaffirmed its commitment to provide responsive and timely support to local NGOs, continuing its mission to uplift the social well-being of the people of Pakistan.
