Karachi: Karachi's vibrant literary pulse beat strong at a grand evening hosted by the Urdu Markaz at the Markazi Islami on Pakistan Boulevard, drawing poets, writers, intellectuals, and top brass from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) for a poetic symposium titled "There Is a Gap in Awareness."
The event united voices from across the country, celebrating the city's enduring cultural and literary traditions through soul-stirring recitations. Presided over by acclaimed scholar and writer Professor Shadab Ehsani, with Haider Abbas Rizvi as the guest of honor, the session was anchored by MPA Muhammad Amir Siddiqui.
Federal Minister for Education and Vocational Training, and MQM-P Chairman Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, lent strong support. At the same time, senior party leaders, including Arshad Hassan, Shakeel Ahmed, Irshad Zafar, Sharif Khan, Zahid Mansoori, Kamran Farooqi, and Kishwar Zahra Haqparast, filled the hall with their presence.
Poets like Professor Shahid Siddiqui, Rashid Noor, Dr. Oj Kamal, and Haider Rizvi held the audience spellbound with verses delving into awareness, social consciousness, and cultural identity – themes that resonated deeply in today's fast-paced world.
In his keynote, Dr. Siddiqui stressed that Karachi's literary and cultural vitality hinges on MQM-P's involvement, calling the party a rare blend of politics, knowledge, and culture that sparks societal intellectual revival. He spotlighted the city's economic and cultural growth as key to Pakistan's future, pushing for more youth involvement in reading, research, and literary pursuits.
The night wrapped up with awards and bouquets for the poets and organizers, hailing their efforts in breathing new life into Karachi's creative spirit. This gathering stands as a beacon for literary revival, echoing the spirit of events like the upcoming Karachi Literature Festival while underscoring MQM-P's role in nurturing the arts.
