Karachi Traffic Police Chief Clarifies E-Challan Process

By: Aziz Khatri

Karachi: DIG Traffic Police Chief Pir Muhammad Shah addressed public concerns by clarifying that e-challans will be sent to the registered address of the vehicle owner. As challans are issued with the help of technology, the traffic police have also outlined a procedure to challenge them.

Eleven facilitation centers have been set up across the city where citizens can submit their challan along with an application to the duty officer in case of any ambiguity. A three-member committee will then review it.

In District Central: Nazimabad Driving License Branch; District East: Traffic Section Office near Manzoor Churangi; District South: Office on Hub River Road; District Malir: Office at Qayyumabad Chowk; Korangi Road Police Facilitation Center; Traffic Section Secretariat on I.I. Chundrigar Road; Shahrah-e-Faisal Traffic Section; Parade Police Station Traffic Section; Ferozabad Nursery on Shahrah-e-Faisal; Drig Road Traffic Section; and at Korangi Brooke Churangi.

According to the Traffic Police spokesperson, once a vehicle's violation is recorded on camera, evidence is extracted and a ticket is issued. The owner then has 10 days to challenge it.

For citizens' convenience, Karachi Traffic Police has introduced the 'Tracs_Citizen.APK' mobile application, through which users can access all information about their vehicles/motorcycles, including violations and challans.

By entering their CNIC number in the app, details of registered vehicles and challans will appear.

The app is not yet available on any store, but citizens can download it from the Sindh Police website https://sindhpolice.gov.pk/ by clicking on "Faceless e-Ticketing" on the right side of the homepage. It works on Android and iOS
