Karachi: The Karachi Women Entrepreneurs (KWE) Group, under the leadership of Shama Rashid, successfully hosted the fourth season of the Pinktober Women Festival at the Sindh Governor House on Friday, October 24. The event drew a large crowd, highlighting the importance of women's health and empowerment within the community.
The festival commenced with a soulful recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat by Nazma Javed, setting a reflective tone for the day. Chief Guest Tariq Mustafa, Advisor to Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori, delivered a message on behalf of the Governor, commending Shama Rashid for her remarkable dedication in organizing such a vital event.
In her address, KWE President Shama Rashid highlighted the alarming rise in breast cancer cases and reiterated the commitment of the group to ongoing initiatives aimed at combating this disease. The festival served as an educational platform for women, focusing on awareness of risks, early detection, timely treatment, and prevention strategies.
Throughout the day, various sessions were held covering crucial topics, including women's mental health, physical fitness, yoga, nutrition, and overall wellness. Esteemed speakers included Dr. Samia Asif, who addressed breast cancer awareness; Dr. Elia Shah, who spoke on mental health; Ayesha Khan, who shared insights on yoga and fitness; Dr. Bilquis Sheikh, who discussed physical health and herbal remedies; and Alia Sarim Burney, who highlighted women's rights and parenting.
The festival concluded with a delightful hi-tea and gift hampers provided by National Foods and Andaz Foods. As the event wrapped up, attendees collectively pledged to enhance awareness, promote early screening, and ensure timely treatment for breast cancer across Pakistan.
The event was warmly hosted by Shama Rashid and her dedicated team, comprising Fareeha Azmat, Hira Danish, and Dr. Javeria Shehzad. Adding a dash of competition and creativity, a pink-themed cooking contest showcased a variety of cakes and dishes, judged by renowned chefs Sara Farhan and Shahbaz Hussain, with support from Chughtai Lab.Notable attendees included several prominent figures from various sectors. The Pinktober Awards 2025 recognized the exemplary contributions of young entrepreneur Maham Rizwan and Dr. Esther Sohail, along with Zaid Packages, celebrating their efforts towards community development.
