By: Aziz Khatri

Karachi: Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Mayor of Karachi and PPP spokesperson, extended heartfelt condolences to Agha Shahbaz Khan Durrani on the sad demise of his father, Agha Siraj Durrani, the party's veteran leader and former Speaker of Sindh Assembly.

In a statement, Wahab expressed profound grief over the loss of Agha Siraj, who passed away at 72 after a month-long battle with a brain hemorrhage in a Karachi hospital. "Agha Sahib was a dignified figure who stood firmly by the PPP and its leadership through the toughest times," Wahab said, hailing him as a loyal, principled senior leader whose contributions to democracy and Sindh politics will be remembered forever.

The Mayor prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family, including Agha Shahbaz and brother Agha Masooduddin Durrani. Agha Siraj's four-decade association with PPP included three terms as provincial minister and two as Speaker, earning trust from icons like Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and President Asif Zardari.

Tributes poured in from across the political spectrum, with President Zardari, PM Shehbaz Sharif, CM Murad Ali Shah, and Speaker Ayaz Sadiq lauding his wisdom and service. The Election Commission has scheduled a by-election for his vacated PS-9 Sukkur seat. PPP leaders continue to visit the Durrani family at Kot Durrani, Ghotki, underscoring the party's unity in this hour of sorrow.
