Karachi: The Science Film Festival 2025 kicked off with great enthusiasm in Karachi, hosted by Goethe-Institut Pakistan in collaboration with TDF’s MagnifiScience Centre. The event attracted hundreds of students, teachers, and science lovers, offering them a creative exploration of science through 123 films from 37 countries.

This year’s theme, “Green Jobs”, emphasizes eco-friendly technologies and sustainable careers shaping the future. The opening ceremony featured speeches by Fawad Somro (CEO Dawood Foundation), Maha Jafri (Goethe-Institut), and German Consulate representative Anja Kloss, highlighting the festival's commitment to science literacy and sustainability.

Over 150 students—including many from underprivileged backgrounds—showcased science projects inspired by the theme, engaging with interactive exhibits and live experiments at the festival.

Since its inception in 2005, the Science Film Festival has grown into the world’s largest science communication platform, now running in 23 countries until December 20, 2025. The festival aims to make science fun, accessible, and inspiring, motivating young audiences to consider sustainable careers in fields like renewable energy, environmental engineering, and green architecture.

The festival’s films compete across categories such as Ecology & Environment, Natural Science, and Life Science & Technology, with winners to be announced in January 2026.
