Haseeb Jamali and Farida Mangrave Elected to Lead Sindh High Court Bar Association

  Karachi: In a closely contested election, Muhammad Haseeb Jamali has been elected as the president and Farida Mangrave as the secretary of the Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) for the term 2025-26. The annual elections were held on Saturday, drawing a strong turnout from the bar’s eligible voters.

Unofficial results indicate that Haseeb Jamali emerged victorious with 2,679 votes, narrowly defeating the incumbent president, Muhammad Sarfaraz Metlo, who garnered 2,604 votes. Jamali's triumph came by a slim margin of just 75 votes, showcasing the competitive spirit of the elections.

Farida Mangrave also won her post decisively, receiving 2,582 votes, while her opponent, Imran Ali Mithani, managed to secure 1,463 votes. The outgoing secretary, Mirza Sarfaraz Ahmed, sought a second term but received only 1,257 votes.

The election results further revealed that Tariq Ali Jakhrani has been elected vice president after a tight race, winning by a mere 14 votes with a total of 1,497. His challenger, Tahir Iqbal, received 1,483 votes.

In the race for joint secretary, Huzaifa Khan achieved victory with 2,311 votes against RB Qureshi, who received 2,244 votes. The treasure position was claimed by Naimatullah Shah, who obtained 3,066 votes, while his closest rivals, Liaquat Ali Awa and Roopmala Singh, received 2,074 and 2,426 votes, respectively. Fauzia Mushtaq secured 2,193 votes to become the additional joint secretary focusing on women's affairs.

Polling took place from 9 am to 5 pm at the Sindh High Court premises, with approximately 8,500 eligible voters participating. Barrister Zulfiqar Jalbani oversaw the election as commissioner.

The newly elected leadership is expected to address various issues faced by the legal community and to uphold the integrity of the bar association in the upcoming term.
