Karachi: The highly anticipated 4th European Film Festival (EUFF) 2025 is set to return to Pakistan this November, inviting audiences in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore to immerse themselves in a vibrant celebration of European cinema, creativity, and cultural exchange.
Hosted by the Delegation of the European Union to Pakistan and curated by Olomopolo Media, this festival emphasizes cinema's remarkable ability to forge connections and inspire reflection on shared human experiences. The event will feature an impressive lineup of 19 feature films and 10 shorts produced by EU Member States, showcasing a wide array of genres, including comedy, thrillers, documentaries, and fiction. These cinematic gems will delve into themes such as family dynamics, childhood, romance, friendship, climate change, history, economic challenges, and human rights.
The festival kicks off in Islamabad on **7th November**, with screenings from **4 PM to 9 PM**, and continues on **8th November** from **11 AM to 9 PM** at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA). The two-day event will present a captivating mix of films and interactive experiences designed to engage audiences of all ages. Featured screenings include “Behind the Curtain of High Mountains” (Czech Republic), “Without Air” (Hungary), “That They May Face the Rising Sun” (Ireland), and “The Olive Tree” (Spain), among others. Families are in for a treat with delightful entries like “Itty Bitty Princess” (Finland) and “My Dad is a Sausage” (Belgium), adding a heartwarming touch to the festival lineup. Day One will culminate in a social dance, while Day Two will close with a dramatic reading, leaving attendees inspired.
Following its Islamabad debut, the festival moves to **Karachi** on **15th November** from **5 PM to 10 PM** and on **16th November** from **11 AM to 9 PM** at the Karachi Film School. This leg promises to connect European creativity with the dynamic spirit of the city, featuring screenings on both days. Highlights include a dramatic reading on Day One and a spirited social dance on Day Two, providing a perfect platform for cultural enthusiasts, local filmmakers, and students to gather and engage. A Filmmaker's Mixer will also take place in Karachi, fostering collaboration and dialogue among emerging and established talents.
The festival will conclude in **Lahore** on **22nd November** from **4 PM to 9 PM** and **23rd November** from **11 AM to 9 PM** at the historic Alhamra Arts Council. Audiences can look forward to a weekend filled with screenings, interactive installations, and live performances across Hall 3, the Adabi Baithak, and the charming open-air courtyard. The closing events will feature a dramatic reading on Day One and a signature social dance on Day Two, celebrating Lahore’s rich artistic heritage.
Attendees will experience more than just films as immersive experiences bring the festival to life. Highlights include a “Wall of Fame” showcasing a century of European cinema through twenty-four remarkable voices, as well as interactive installations like the Auteur Ego, the Human Slot Game, and a 360° camera inviting playful engagement. Dedicated spaces such as the Reading Nook and Kids’ Corner will provide moments to pause and explore, while photobooths and curated food kiosks will create a lively atmosphere.
EUFF 2025 is free and open to the public, welcoming families, students, local artists, diplomats, and film enthusiasts to engage with cinema as a tool for connection and conversation. The festival enjoys the support of prominent partners such as FM91 (Radio Partner), HUM TV & HUM NEWS (Media Partner), Pakistan Film Society, and various local organizations, ensuring this year’s festival is a remarkable celebration of culture and creativity.
