Sindh Governor Urges Trade Reforms and Investment Boost to Revitalize Economy

  Karachi: Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori emphasized the crucial role of enhancing Pakistani exports in restoring the nation’s economic health. Speaking at the 31st Specialized Training Program (STP) for the Commerce and Trade Group (CTG) at the Governor's House in Karachi, Tesori outlined the multifaceted benefits of increased exports, including strengthening foreign exchange reserves, generating employment, and boosting industrial activities, thereby enhancing Pakistan's global competitiveness.

“Promoting our exports is essential for ensuring economic stability,” the Governor stated, underscoring the government’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment and implementing policies that facilitate exporters. He underscored the need to improve marketing strategies, research initiatives, and employ modern technology to successfully showcase Pakistani products on the international stage.

Tesori highlighted foreign investment and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) as vital components for economic strengthening. He articulated that simplifying processes, ensuring transparent regulations, and providing a secure investment landscape are critical for fostering economic growth and job creation.

During the meeting, participants informed the Governor about their training activities, policy research, and ongoing studies related to the trade sector. They also shared valuable suggestions regarding global trade trends and enhancements to Pakistan’s trade framework.

The Governor commented, “To stabilize our economy and enhance commercial operations, we must innovate laws, optimize digital technology, and offer robust support to the business community.” He expressed his openness to any suggestions or reforms from the business sector that would promote ease of doing business and attract foreign investment.

Tesori called for increasing transparency and efficiency within investment and trade processes through digitalization. Identifying the removal of unnecessary barriers for foreign investors and industrialists as a top priority, he also stressed the need to align trade policies with global standards to foster a safe environment for domestic investment.

Addressing the young officers, he encouraged them to embrace a reform-oriented mindset, stating his aspiration for Pakistan to become a significant trade and investment hub in the region. The Governor concluded by commending the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) for its efforts to enhance the professional capabilities of officers, anticipating their vital role in shaping future economic policies and global trade dynamics in Pakistan.
