Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi organized the book-launch ceremony of Brigadier (R) Syed Karrar Hussain Abidi’s latest book, “Nakal Makaniyan aur Be-Sarosamaniyan – Kab Se Kab Tak”, at Haseena Moin Hall on Tuesday.

The event was attended by Adviser to the Governor of Sindh and Federal Secretary Syed Tariq Mustafa, who represented Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori. Among other notable attendees were Ambassador Jameel Ahmed Khan, Brigadier Yaqoob Awan, Director Sports Syed Habib, Muhammad Umar Khan, Arts Council Administrative Director Shakeel Khan, Mansoor Sahir, and several literary and social figures.

The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the national anthem. Renowned intellectual Agha Shirazi performed the duties of moderator.

Reading out the message of Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori, Syed Tariq Mustafa said that “Nakal Makaniyan aur Be-Sarosamaniyan – Kab Se Kab Tak” is not merely a historical account but a profound reflection of human pain, sacrifice, and struggle. He stated that the author has comprehensively documented migrations from the era of Hazrat Adam (A.S.) to the creation of Pakistan, portraying the journeys of prophets, saints, and ordinary people with remarkable sensitivity and insight.

The message highlighted that the depiction of the suffering, sacrifices, and rights of millions of migrants during the creation of Pakistan is especially significant in today’s context. The book, he said, serves not only as a reminder of the past but also as guidance for the present and future generations. It also sheds light on the role of the Pakistan Army, its services during natural disasters, and offers guidance for Pakistanis seeking opportunities abroad. The Governor described the book as a comprehensive document capable of awakening national consciousness and congratulated Brigadier (R) Abidi for addressing such an important and sensitive subject.

Ambassador Jameel Ahmed Khan, while speaking on the occasion, said that the publication is more than a book—it is a historical document. He praised the author for covering human and Islamic evolutionary history and for presenting themes of struggle, sacrifice, perseverance, and intellectual depth with clarity. He added that elements of both domestic and international law have been skillfully incorporated into the narrative.

In his address, Brigadier (R) Syed Karrar Hussain Abidi expressed gratitude to the Governor of Sindh for writing an extensive preface to the book. He said that the Pakistan Army provided him with numerous opportunities to serve the people of Pakistan, particularly Karachi. He paid special tribute to his wife, acknowledging her unwavering support during his military service, including his participation in the Kargil War. He emphasized the importance of respecting mothers, calling them society’s most valuable asset.

He also lauded Arts Council President Muhammad Ahmed Shah, stating that under his leadership the institution has transformed remarkably. Recalling the situation in 2002, he said that today the Arts Council stands as a vibrant cultural hub where multiple programs are held simultaneously, reflecting its progress and strong management.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks and appreciation for the author’s contribution to literature and national history.
