Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, through its Lok Virsa Committee, hosted the launch ceremony of writer Zaid Pirzado’s two books titled “Musbat Soch” and “Samajh” at the Hasina Moin Hall.

The event was presided over by eminent scholar Mahtab Akbar Rashdi, while renowned writer Noor-ul-Huda Shah graced the ceremony as the chief guest.

Panel discussions were held on both books.
Speaking on “Musbat Soch”, Madad Ali Sindhi, Dr. Asghar Dashti, and Nazir Mahmood expressed their analysis, while Shazia Mazhar, Dr. Javed Sheikh, and Sabhiyan Sanghi reviewed “Samajh”. Author Zaid Pirzado and scholar Dr. Muhammad Ali Pathan also shared their reflections.

In her presidential remarks, Mahtab Akbar Rashdi said Zaid Pirzado is fortunate to produce literary works in an era where reading habits are rapidly declining. She noted that technology has enabled easy access to knowledge, but has simultaneously distanced people from books. She praised Pirzado for promoting critical thinking and reflecting on global and societal challenges.

Chief guest Noor-ul-Huda Shah highlighted that Zaid Pirzado carries forward the literary legacy of his father, noted Sindhi poet and journalist Anwar Pirzado. She said Zaid is successfully attracting youth towards Urdu and Sindhi literature—a commendable effort.

Critics acknowledged the themes and strengths of Pirzado’s writings.
Nazir Mahmood described “Musbat Soch” as a compilation of columns grounded in hope rather than idealism, while Madad Ali Sindhi emphasized the importance of writing on contemporary issues including education reform and out-of-school children.
Sabhiyan Sanghi observed poetic expression within the prose, noting Pirzado’s focus on identity, women’s rights, and social concerns.
Shazia Mazhar appreciated the author’s storytelling and his exploration of societal blame and understanding.

Commenting on the socio-political relevance of the books, Dr. Asghar Dashti said the work reflects the need for dignity, equality and freedom in a society overshadowed by distrust and intolerance.

Speaking about his work, Zaid Pirzado said that one book comprises poetry while the other contains columns centered on contemporary realities. He stressed the importance of positive thinking, acknowledging societal flaws but emphasizing that goodness also prevails. “A society grounded in positive thought is essential for collective well-being,” he said.
