KarachiThe Government of Japan has provided state-of-the-art medical equipment to the Muhammadi Haematology, Oncology Services & Welfare Foundation in Karachi under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) programme.

The handover ceremony took place on Thursday in the presence of Japan’s Consul General in Karachi, HATTORI Masaru; Syed Mehdi Hassan Rizvi, General Secretary of the Muhammadi Foundation; and Dr. Dur-e-Naz Jamal, Secretary of the Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority.

As part of the project, Japan has donated four advanced hematology analyzers manufactured in Japan. The equipment will enable the Foundation to process nearly 120 blood samples a day, significantly improving diagnostic capacity and early detection of blood-related illnesses, including thalassemia.

Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General HATTORI said that timely diagnosis and access to quality care can allow patients suffering from lifelong blood disorders to live with “dignity and comfort.” He added that the initiative symbolized the lasting friendship between Japan and Pakistan.

Expressing appreciation, Mr. Rizvi said the Foundation was grateful to the people and government of Japan for their support, which would help deliver improved medical services to patients battling thalassemia and other hematological conditions across Pakistan.

The Government of Japan reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and vowed to continue supporting grassroots organizations working to improve the lives of Pakistani citizens.
