Karachi: On the fifth day of the Awami Theatre Festival 2026, organized by the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, the stage drama “Yeh Kaisa Dor Hai” was presented to an attentive and appreciative audience.
The play was written and directed by renowned actor Zakir Mastana. The cast featured Shakeel Shah, Shahbaz Sanam, Shanzay, Sapna, Parvez Siddiqui, Ali Zakir, and Akram Sonu, who delivered strong performances and kept the audience engaged throughout. A large number of theatre lovers filled the hall to witness the production.
The storyline focused on the growing misuse of social media and its impact on family life. It portrayed a middle-class family in which the mother and son are excessively involved in creating TikTok videos and casual vlogs, while the father and daughter repeatedly warn them against sharing private household matters on social media. The conflict intensifies when, during the filming of a video, the son accidentally shoots a child, causing serious injury.
Following the incident, the boy is arrested by the police and later released on bail by the court. Realizing the consequences of their actions, the mother and son acknowledge their mistake and express remorse.
Through this thought-provoking drama, the audience was given a strong message that while mobile phones and social media can be useful tools, their irresponsible use can lead to serious social problems. The play emphasized the importance of responsibility and awareness in the digital age.
