Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi presented the stage play “Wah Tera Kya Kehna” on the sixth day of the Awami Theatre Festival 2026 at Auditorium II, drawing an appreciative response from theatre enthusiasts.
Written by Shaukat Uttarkail and directed by Shabbir Bhatti, the play featured strong performances by Abdullah Lala, Junaid Memon, Kamal Idris, Mehak Noor, Shahbaz Sanam, and Shanzay.
The story revolves around two brothers, Shamim and Qurban, whose deep love and emotional attachment to their late parents form the heart of the narrative. Seeing reflections of their parents in each other, the brothers lovingly address one another as Ammi and Abbu, symbolizing their enduring bond and shared grief. Their younger sister, Naik Parveen, is portrayed as a popular social media star. The brothers go to great lengths to fulfill her wishes and, in support of her passion for dance, even arrange a professional choreographer for her.
Both brothers are married, and their wives attempt to arrange Naik Parveen’s marriage within the family to ensure that the family’s wealth remains intact. However, Shamim and Qurban firmly oppose this idea, prioritizing emotional values over material considerations.
The timeless theme of love, sacrifice, and familial bonds presented in “Wah Tera Kya Kehna” deeply moved the audience. The play received warm applause and widespread appreciation, with spectators praising the compelling storyline and the convincing performances of the cast.
