Karachi: An awards ceremony for the logo design competition commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan was held in Karachi, celebrating the enduring partnership between the two nations and recognizing creative contributions reflecting their historic friendship.
The event was organized by Irfan Soomro, Director General of the MOFA Liaison Office Karachi. Participants were honored for their artistic interpretations of bilateral relations, including third-prize winner Nayab Zahra, whose design symbolized the deep cultural and historical ties between the two countries.
Yang Yundong, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Karachi, attended as chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners. The ceremony was also attended by diplomats from Malaysia and Indonesia, along with senior officials including Deputy DG Sadia Gohar Khanum and other representatives.
In his address, the Chinese Consul General highlighted the historic journey of China–Pakistan relations, describing how the two nations forged a close partnership 75 years ago that has evolved into an all-weather strategic cooperative relationship. He noted that the legacy established by leaders such as Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto laid the foundation of bilateral ties, which were further strengthened by subsequent leaders including Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari.
He emphasized that the mutual trust between the two nations remains the most valuable asset of their relationship, often described in Pakistan as “higher than mountains, deeper than the sea, and sweeter than honey,” while in China, Pakistanis are affectionately referred to as “Batie,” meaning brothers.
Highlighting economic cooperation, he noted that major bilateral initiatives have entered an advanced stage of development, with future collaboration focusing on industry, agriculture, and mining to ensure broader benefits for local communities. He also stressed the importance of strengthening people-to-people exchanges, particularly by engaging youth to carry forward the legacy of friendship.
The Consul General further referenced the recent visit of Ishaq Dar to China and strategic consultations with Wang Yi, which officially launched the year-long celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Describing unity as the foundation of future progress, he expressed confidence that continued cooperation would help build an even closer China–Pakistan community with a shared future. The ceremony, held ahead of the Chinese New Year of the Horse — symbolizing courage and resilience — conveyed optimism for sustained prosperity and strengthened bilateral ties in the years ahead.
