Karachi: The Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia held an important meeting with the city’s leading industrial organization to further strengthen economic diplomacy with Pakistan. In this regard, Consul General Madzkar met with the leadership of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, in which detailed discussions were held on the promotion of bilateral trade, investment and industrial cooperation.
The Consul General was received by KATI President Muhammad Ikram Rajput and former President Junaid Naqi, among other officials. KATI is an influential industrial organization in Pakistan with over 5,000 industrial units located in the Korangi Industrial Area, which is one of the country’s major industrial and export hubs.
During the meeting, the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries were appreciated and the commitment to further strengthen economic ties was reiterated. The two sides also emphasized that recent high-level visits — including the visit of the Indonesian President to Pakistan and the visit of the Indonesian Deputy Minister of Trade to Karachi — have given a new dimension to bilateral economic relations.
During the discussion, emphasis was placed on promoting joint ventures and investment partnerships beyond traditional trade, especially in the sectors of textiles, food processing, pharmaceuticals, halal products and manufacturing. On this occasion, Indonesia also invited Pakistani businessmen and industrialists to explore investment opportunities in its emerging and vast market.
The Consul General expressed his determination to continue to promote contacts between the business communities of the two countries, increase bilateral trade and investment, and play the role of an effective bridge.
This meeting reflects the fact that Pakistan and Indonesia are taking serious steps to transform their strong bilateral relations into a practical and future-oriented economic partnership so that the people of both countries can benefit from the fruits of this cooperation.
