KARACHI: The 19th annual ration distribution ceremony was held under the joint auspices of Karachi Maymar Lions Club and the Human Rights Welfare Front of Pakistan, continuing a long-running welfare tradition for underprivileged families.
Addressing the ceremony, President Lion Dr. Furqan Ahmed said that for the past 19 years the organization has not only distributed ration to poor and needy households but also provided food and financial support to rain-affected families, helped with girls’ dowries, distributed warm clothes and quilts in winter, offered sacrificial meat on Eid and carried out various other welfare activities. He praised the volunteers, noting that “our workers also perform these duties with full dedication alongside me.”
Special guest Lion Muhammad Saleem paid tribute to Dr Furqan Ahmed’s commitment, saying he saluted his “passion and enthusiasm” for welfare work.
Those present on the occasion included Secretary Najma Akbar, Wajahat Furqan, Noman Furqan, Shabnam Ashfaq, Aziz Fakhruddin and Hassan Anas, along with members of Karachi Maymar Lions Club and the Human Rights Welfare Front, who collectively reaffirmed their resolve to continue serving vulnerable communities.
