By: Aziz Khatri

Karachi: Thirteen-year-old author Syed Shamraiz Abbas, a Grade 9 student at Nixor O Levels, visited the Pakistan Independent Living Center (PILC) for a special talk and book distribution session centered on his debut science-fiction novel, A World Reborn. The event fostered literary exchange, dialogue, and inspiration within the PILC community.

During the interactive session, Shamraiz shared insights into his journey as a young writer, illustrator, designer, and publisher, highlighting the importance of discipline, perseverance, and the courage to pursue one’s passion. Members of the PILC community also contributed their own experiences, transforming the gathering into a meaningful two-way conversation marked by mutual respect and thoughtful reflection.

Copies of A World Reborn were presented to Jawaid Rais, Chairman of PILC and recipient of a national civil award for social services, in recognition of the organization’s work supporting persons with disabilities. The event was attended by Shail Bughio, CEO of PILC, and Hussain Ali, along with guests and supporters including representatives from University of Information Technology and the Pakistan Japan Literature Forum.

Renowned comedian Zakir Mastana, along with Ali Zakir and Shah Faisal, also attended, adding to the diversity of voices present at the event.

The session concluded with a book presentation ceremony, group photographs, and informal discussions — marking not only a literary outreach initiative by a young author but also a shared moment of community connection and inclusive dialogue in Karachi.
