KARACHI (Feb 23): Syed Murad Ali Shah chaired a high-level review of Karachi’s Rs86.94 billion development portfolio for FY2025–26, directing departments to accelerate work, improve fund utilization and ensure timely completion of priority projects.
Officials briefed the chief minister on 285 schemes, with Rs38.83 billion allocated this year and Rs13.15 billion already spent. Stressing the city’s economic importance, he warned that delays and administrative bottlenecks would not be tolerated.
Performance of key agencies including KDA, KMC and MEGA Karachi was reviewed, alongside progress on major road, bridge and underpass projects. Authorities were ordered to begin newly approved schemes immediately and complete ongoing infrastructure works within revised timelines.
The chief minister reiterated the government’s commitment to improved roads, smoother traffic flow and better urban services, directing departments to ensure visible on-ground progress and present updated timelines at the next review.
