KARACHI: Pakistani technology company Viper Group celebrated its 30th anniversary with a special ceremony held in Karachi, coinciding with the nationwide AI Week initiated by the Government of Pakistan. The event highlighted three decades of innovation, service, and commitment to advancing Pakistan’s technology industry, particularly in the growing field of artificial intelligence (AI).
Addressing the gathering, Viper Group Chairman Khushnood Aftab said the company has been providing solutions in hardware, software, and vocational training for the past 30 years and continues to evolve with cutting-edge technologies. He announced the introduction of the company’s AI-powered PC, adding that all Viper software solutions now integrate AI tools and that specialized AI training programs are being offered to equip professionals with future-ready skills.
“There are very few companies working simultaneously in hardware, software, and training with such a strong focus on artificial intelligence,” Aftab remarked, emphasizing Viper’s mission to position Pakistani innovation on the global stage.
Faisal Jadoon, Chief Executive Officer of the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), also addressed the ceremony. He noted that AI Week was observed nationwide to spotlight Pakistan’s emerging tech industry and promote companies driving innovation in artificial intelligence.
According to Jadoon, these initiatives are being carried out under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja, with the objective of presenting AI as a source of opportunity and employment creation, rather than a threat to human jobs. He added that various training programs have been launched to empower youth with digital and freelancing skills, enabling them to access global job markets.
More than 120 international delegates attended the main AI Week event, applauding the achievements of Pakistani tech firms. Over 90 events were organized across Pakistan and in major international cities, including London, to project Pakistan’s growing role in the global AI economy.
Officials said the government’s collaboration with the private sector aims to position Pakistan as a regional leader in artificial intelligence and significantly boost IT exports in the coming years.
