KARACHI: Akhuwat, Pakistan’s pioneering Islamic microfinance institution, hosted a successful Iftar Dinner at the Marina Club DHA, bringing together distinguished guests from diverse sectors in a spirit of unity and social responsibility.
The event was graced by Amjad Saqib, Founder and Chairman of Akhuwat, as Chief Guest. Proceedings commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem of Pakistan.
During the gathering, Akhuwat’s transformative work was highlighted through inspiring success stories of beneficiaries of its Islamic microfinance programme as well as students from its residential colleges.
In his address, Dr. Amjad Saqib reiterated the organisation’s mission to uplift underprivileged communities across the country without discrimination. He shared that Akhuwat has disbursed over PKR 410 billion with an impressive 99.98 percent repayment rate. Beyond microfinance, the organisation also provides free quality education, including boarding and lodging facilities, at its girls’ college in Chakwal and boys’ college in Kasur.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Danish Aman, Chief Patron of Akhuwat Council of Patrons – Karachi.
The event was attended by civil society representatives, business leaders, bureaucrats, politicians, bankers, media professionals, and donors. The evening concluded with Iftar dinner and Maghrib prayers, reinforcing the spirit of compassion and collective responsibility.
